An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the region has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males aged between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepchild had worries about the activities, for good reason.
"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated materials including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his concerns.
She explained the man continued to play the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson called the law enforcement once more.
She explained the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
