Nearly 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, producing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Damage
Residents witnessed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to address the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced energy failures after Melbourne experienced its most precipitation in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At the height on Sunday, over 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both areas.
Health Warning
Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
